Liza Margarita Rodriguez has a diverse and extensive work experience. Liza Margarita began their career as the Director of Targeted Solutions at Public Health Management Corporation in 2005. Liza Margarita then worked as a Senior Policy Fellow for the Stoneleigh Foundation within the City of Philadelphia's Mayor's Office of Education and Department of Human Services. In 2009, they became the Director of Education Support Center for the City of Philadelphia's Department of Human Services, where they played a crucial role in improving high school graduation rates for system-involved youth. From 2011 to 2015, Liza owned and operated their own consulting firm, Rodriguez-Lavergne Consulting LLC. In 2013, they became the Director of Research Operations at Research for Action. Liza then joined Eisenhower Fellowships as an Eisenhower Zhi-Xing Fellow in 2015, participating in a professional and cultural exchange fellowship in China. Liza Margarita returned to Philadelphia and served as the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Performance Management for the City of Philadelphia from January 2016 to October 2016. Following that, they became the Deputy Commissioner of Performance Management and Technology for the City of Philadelphia's Department of Human Services until January 2020. Their most recent role was as the Chief of Performance Management and Technology for the City of Philadelphia's Office of Children and Families from January 2020 until August 2022. Currently, Liza is the Chief Administrative Officer at JEVS Human Services, a role they started in August 2022.
Liza Margarita Rodriguez earned a Bachelor's degree in Latin American and African Studies from Duke University in 1993. Liza Margarita then went on to complete a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin from 1995 to 1997. In 2007, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Education and Leadership from Temple University.
