Alan Hoffmann has a diverse and extensive work experience in the education sector. Alan began their career as the Director of the Melton Center for Jewish Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1984, where they served for nine years. In 1993, they became the CEO of the Council for Initiatives in Jewish Education, a role they held for four years. In 1997, they transitioned to becoming the Director of the Mandel Institute at the Hebrew University for two years. Alan's most recent position was as the CEO and Director General of the Jewish Agency for Israel, which they held from 2010 onwards.
Alan Hoffmann began their education at the University of the Witwatersrand, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government. It is unclear when they started and ended their studies at this institution. Later, from 1976 to 1979, Alan attended Harvard University, where they obtained an Ed. M. degree and also pursued doctoral studies in Educational Policy.
