Edna Vaknin

Edna has been the site director at Brotherhood Way since 2019. Her career in early childhood education has spanned over three decades and has given her the opportunity to hold multiple positions in the field, including extensive time spent as a preschool director. Edna places a high value on ongoing education and professional development and holds several accreditations and certificates in early childhood education and Jewish learning, including a teaching credential with an emphasis on special education.

Edna believes children’s learning should be facilitated with an emphasis on the intellectually stimulating and engaging Reggio Emilia curriculum. This means fostering an environment where children can access materials and have choices while being safe and engaged. She believes in helping children take ownership over their learning and be able to manage their social and emotional lives. She believes that Jewish values play an important role in everyday programming through holiday celebration, Shabbat, and building community with respect and trust.

In her free time, Edna enjoys hiking, walking, reading, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
