Ruth Bigus has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Ruth began their career as a freelance writer/reporter for The Kansas City Star in 1993. Ruth later worked as a Director of Community Relations for Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City and as a Community Relations Director for Jewish Family Services. In 2009, Ruth started their own media relations company called Ruth Baum Bigus Media Relations. In 2010, they joined the Will to Succeed Foundation as a Media Public Relations Specialist and later took on the role of Media Relations, where they managed media relations for former Kansas City Chiefs player Will Shields. In 2012, Ruth worked as a theater publicist for Theatre in the Park. In 2013, they became a Producer and Co-host for the KC Cares Radio Show & Podcast, where they were responsible for research, scheduling guests, and co-hosting the show. Ruth also worked as a member of NonProfit Connect in 2006. Their most recent position was as the President of Charitable Communications, a company that helps local nonprofits increase visibility through media exposure. Additionally, Ruth has been involved in various community relations and media roles for organizations such as SevenDays-Faith Always Wins Foundation and the Will to Succeed Foundation.
Ruth Bigus received their BSE degree in Secondary Education-Social Studies from The University of Kansas in the years 1976 to 1980. Ruth later pursued a MA degree in Radio-TV Education from the University of Michigan in the years 1980 to 1981. Following this, they attended the American Dance Center from 1981 to 1992, although the specific degree and field of study are not provided.
