Alisa Zelman Finsten has extensive work experience, starting with their current position as the Chief Operating Officer at The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles since June 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Chief of Staff at the same organization from January 2022. Alisa also held the position of Senior Vice President of Community Engagement from July 2016 to February 2022.
Before joining The Jewish Federation, Alisa worked as the Director of Grants and Finance at the Office of the Mayor, City of Los Angeles from July 2013 to March 2016. Prior to that, they served as the Grants Director in the Office of Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa from February 2008 to June 2013, where they supervised a team responsible for administering federal grants.
Alisa has also held positions at Los Angeles Team Mentoring as the Director of Development from January 2005 to February 2008. Prior to that, they worked at Trail Blazers as an Associate Director from April 2003 to August 2004. Alisa'scareer began at Generations Incorporated, where they served as an AmeriCorps Member and Program Director from 1997 to 2000.
Alisa Zelman Finsten began their education at Brandeis University in 1993 and obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1997. Afterward, they pursued further studies at New York University from 2001 to 2003, earning a Master's degree in Public Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management.
