Serena Levy and her husband Shawn were awarded the Elyse Bila Ouedraogo honor at the 2022 Laughter is the Best Medicine Jhpiego gala. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Science from Barnard College with a major in Women’s Studies and a minor in Sociology, and her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development.
Ms. Levy currently serves on the board of A Sense of Home, an organization that strives to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for young people aging out of foster care. Her past board service was for the Holocaust Museum of Los Angeles and she continues to do volunteer work with Holocaust survivors in New York.
Ms. Levy worked for 6 years in the fields of fashion and film in New York and Los Angeles before pivoting her focus to the field of psychology.
She worked at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in the Early Childhood Center in the Thalians Health Center. There she worked with children, newborn to age 3, along with their families. Additionally, she volunteered her time at the Southern California Counseling Center and also had a private practice working with preschool-age children and their parents.
