Baldur Helgason

Baldur Helgason has been working in the software development industry since 2008. Baldur began their career as a Multimedia Designer at Pipar\TBWA advertising, where they worked on screen media, web, and television using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Flash. In 2011, they began working as a Teacher's Assistant at Reykjavik University, where they were in charge of lab classes and gave lectures. Also in 2011, they began working at Advania as a Software Developer, primarily working on iOS mobile development and developing web services and data synchronization between different types of databases. In 2014, they began working at OZ as a Software Developer, where they worked on the backend, REST API, subscription system, streaming service, and more. Baldur also served as a project manager and lead the product council in a Holacratic structure. In 2016, they began working at ueno. as a Senior Software Developer, where they did full stack web development in JavaScript, Node.js, and React for a wide variety of clients. In 2018, they began working at WOW air as a Senior Software Developer, where they developed micro-services in Scala and did full-stack client development using React, ReasonML, TypeScript, and JavaScript. In 2019, they began working at Travelshift as Head of Front-End Development, where they were responsible for replacing the front-end part of an outdated PHP monolith with a modern web application stack. In 2020, they began working at Jiko as a Software Developer.

Baldur Helgason obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Reykjavík University between 2009 and 2012.
