Alex Cureton-Griffiths has a diverse work experience. In 2020, they became the Developer Relations Lead and Open Source Evangelist at Jina AI. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Mentor in Residence at Tsinghua University, where they led a team to rewrite and enhance the university's next-generation computer science curriculum, with a focus on distributed microservice platforms and blockchain for academic credentialing and trust verification. This curriculum is being rolled out to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They also created a new education methodology based on real-world technological tools. In 2017, they were a Consultant/Maker in Residence at Golden Bull Holdings. From 2012 to 2016, they were the Global Projects Lead at SpaceGAMBIT, a consortium of international makerspaces promoting humanity's survival in space and on Earth through education, research grants and competitions. In 2016, they were a Consultant at Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab.
Alex Cureton-Griffiths attended the University of Otago from 2000 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chinese Studies and a BA in Chinese language and culture; Asian Studies. In 2005, they earned a CELTA from the Auckland Languages Center in English Training.
