Dan Cook currently serves as the Director of Data Policy and Research at Jisc, focusing on policy and research initiatives within the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). Prior to this role, Dan was the Deputy Director of Data and Innovation at HESA from July 2014 until its acquisition by Jisc in 2022, where responsibilities included establishing the policy and research function, overseeing data governance, and leading a specialized team. Dan’s extensive experience in higher education administration encompasses strategic planning at the University of Bristol’s Graduate School of Education and operational management roles at other universities, along with a background in data policy development. Dan holds an MBA in Higher Education Management from the UCL Institute of Education and a BA in English Literature from the University of Exeter.
