Christopher Rubino has a diverse range of work experience in the field of marine science and aquaculture. Christopher started their career as a Oyster Hatchery Technician at Patuxent Environmental and Aquatic Research Laboratory in 2010, where they gained experience in hatchery processes and oyster care. Christopher then worked as an Oyster Hatchery Intern at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science in 2012, where they worked on large-scale oyster hatchery production and conducted research on larval oyster sets.
Rubino continued their research work as a Shellfish Hatchery Technician at the East Hampton Town Shellfish Hatchery in 2014, where they focused on the growout process of clams, oysters, and scallops. Christopher also worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland in 2014, where they conducted research for future classes and graded papers and exams.
In 2015, Rubino conducted research on algae growth around oyster farms as a Research Assistant at the University of Maryland. Christopher then worked at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in 2016 as a Research Assistant, where they assisted with graduate research on oyster gametogenesis and the viability of commercially produced algae.
Rubino's most recent work experience is at J.J. McDonnell & Co Inc, where they have held multiple roles since 2016. Christopher started as a Buyer, procuring seafood for distribution and supporting the sales team. Christopher then became an Inventory and Efficiency Supervisor, streamlining inventory processes and managing loss prevention. Their most recent role at the company is Director of Operations, which they started in 2022.
Christopher Rubino attended the University of Maryland from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Science & Policy. Their field of study focused on Biodiversity and Conservation Biology, as well as Humanities.
