Marie Lazzara

Marie Lazzara has worked in a variety of roles in the public relations, media, and writing fields since 1997. Marie began their career as an Assistant Lifestyle Editor for Press Publications in Liberty Suburban, where they were responsible for copy editing, proofreading, fact checking, archiving, and researching information. Marie was also responsible for overseeing freelance writers and columnists for a twice-weekly newspaper chain, and wrote feature articles covering schools, businesses, health, personality profiles, and nonprofit and religious organizations.

In 2002, Marie began working as a Cantor for St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, where they were knowledgeable about Catholic Mass settings and songs used in funerals and weddings. In 2004, they began singing for the Elmhurst Choral Union.

In 2005, Marie began working as a Freelance Writer for Tribune Media Group, where they wrote for several special advertising and advertorial sections. Marie wrote on topics ranging from business, education and health to food, senior issues and fashion. In 2009, they began working as a Freelance Public Relations/Media Assistant for the Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA). In this role, they created and edited press releases and media alerts about various NEDSRA events and programs, organized media lists and pitched story ideas, and scheduled and observed media interviews.

In 2010, Marie began working as a Freelance Writer for Patch.com, where they wrote feature stories on a broad range of topics including business, personality profiles, nonprofit organizations, and local events for Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Elmhurst, and La Grange. Marie also took photos and recorded videos.

In 2011, Marie began working as the Membership Chair for the Roosevelt University Northwest Suburban Alumni Chapter. In this role, they created e-mails to encourage past and present Northwest Suburban members to attend meetings and participate in various projects, wrote blogs describing information from various speakers and events for the chapter website, and coordinated efforts with the chapter's committees in finding ways to contact alumni and creating alumni events.

In 2012, Marie began working as the Host of "Community with Marie Lazzara" for Linked Local Network and Blog Administrator. In this role, they were the Blog Talk Radio Host of Linked Local Network's Internet Radio Show "Community with Marie Lazzara" on BlogTalkRadio.com. The show was a partnership with Linked Local Network and HandsOn Suburban Chicago.

Marie began working as the Public Relations Manager for JJR Marketing in 2014.

Additionally, they have sung for the Elmhurst Choral Union.

Marie Lazzara obtained their Bachelor's degree in Communications from Dominican University in 1994. Marie then went on to earn their Master's degree in Journalism from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1997. In 2021, they obtained two certifications from LinkedIn, entitled "17 PR Mistakes to Avoid" and "Public Relations Foundations: Media Training".
