Eric Carter is group vice president of Operations for Southeast Toyota Distributors, the world’s largest independent distributor of Toyotas and a subsidiary of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., a privately held company with $18 billion in revenue and more than 5,000 associates. Rooted in automotive and united in its strong culture and core values, JM Family is in the business of helping other businesses succeed.
In his role, Carter is responsible for the company’s Parts Distribution Center, Southeast Transportation Systems, and the three Vehicle Processing Centers located at Talleyrand Port Processing, in the Westlake Industrial Park, both in Jacksonville, Florida, and in Commerce, Georgia. He also oversees the Technical Training Center, which is one of the largest automotive training and technical support facilities in the nation.
Carter started his career with Southeast Toyota Distributors over 20 years ago in the Technical Operations Center located in Jacksonville, Florida. He has since spent numerous years in field roles before joining the leadership team with roles in Strategy, Office of the CEO and most recently as vice president of Marketing. Prior to joining Southeast Toyota Distributors, Carter worked as a technician and service advisor at a Toyota dealership in Jasper, Alabama.
Carter graduated from Bessemer State Technical College, now known as Lawson State Community College, with an associate degree in Automotive Technology.
