Michael Tierney began their work experience in 1991 at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as an Electronics Engineer. Michael worked on developing, integrating, and testing software for the Deep Space Climate Observatory mission. In 2001, they moved on to Argon Engineering Associates as a Software Systems Engineer. From 2003 to 2008, they worked at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP as an Associate and Technical Specialist. In 2008, they joined Infineon Technologies AG as a Principal, IP Licensing Attorney. Michael then worked at Intel Mobile Communications GmbH from 2011 to 2012 as the Senior Director and Head of IMC Patents. In 2012, they became the Assistant Director of Patents at Intel Corporation until 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they held the role of Senior Engineering Director at Invention Investment Ireland. Currently, they are the Chief Patent Counsel at JMA Wireless, a position they have held since 2016.
Michael Tierney attended the Trinity-Pawling School for an unspecified period of time. Michael then obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from George Mason University, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Michael further pursued their education at George Mason University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from 1989 to 1993. Following this, they attended The Johns Hopkins University from 1994 to 1997, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics. Lastly, Michael Tierney completed their education at George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School, earning a Juris Doctor degree from 2002 to 2006.
