Flight Test Engineer Lead at Joby Aviation

Hiroyuki Tanaka has a diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Hiroyuki began their career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer, where they conducted wind tunnel tests for various aircraft programs. Hiroyuki then joined Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and held multiple roles including Deputy Manager in the Aerodynamics Design Group and Team Leader in the Flight Operations Group. In these positions, they contributed to the development and certification of the MRJ90/SpaceJet M90 aircraft, and was responsible for leading flight test teams and managing crew training. Tanaka also worked as a Part-Time Lecturer at Nagoya University and as a Guest Lecturer at The University of Tokyo. Most recently, they have joined Joby Aviation as a Senior Flight Test Engineer.

Hiroyuki Tanaka completed their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics at The University of Tokyo from 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Master of Engineering degree in the same field at The University of Tokyo from 2003 to 2005. In 2014, Hiroyuki attended the National Test Pilot School, undertaking the Civil Flight Test Certification and Standardization Course.

In addition to their academic achievements, Hiroyuki Tanaka obtained an Aeronautical Radio Operator License from the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in the year 2015. The month of obtaining this certification is not specified.
