Landing Gear Lead at Joby Aviation

Ruoshui (Roy) Wang started their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Windecker Aircraft Inc in January 2017. In this role, they designed retractable landing gear systems for a new airplane model, conducted hand sizing, FEM stress analysis, and dynamic simulations. Ruoshui(Roy) also designed composite tooling for a ¼ scale airplane prototype. Ruoshui(Roy) worked at Windecker Aircraft Inc until October 2019. In November 2019, Roy joined Joby Aviation as the Landing Gear System Lead, where they are currently employed.

Ruoshui (Roy) Wang started their education at the University of Science and Technology Beijing from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Processing and Control Engineering. Ruoshui(Roy) then pursued further education at Texas A&M University from 2011 to 2016, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the field of Mechanics of FRP composite materials.

In addition to their academic achievements, they have also obtained certifications in the field of SolidWorks. In 2015, they became a Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) from DS SolidWorks Corporation, and in 2017, they obtained the Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification from SolidWorks.
