Eric Schaffer

Eric Schaffer has over two decades of work experience in various roles in the sports industry.

Eric began their career in 1996 at IMG, where they worked as an Account Executive and Client Manager for IMG Motorsports. In 2000, they transitioned to the role of Staff Counsel in the Football Division.

In 2003, Schaffer joined the Washington Redskins as Vice President of Football Administration. Eric held this role until 2012 when they were promoted to General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Football Administration. From 2017 to 2020, they served as Senior VP of Football Operations and General Counsel.

In 2020, Schaffer joined Athletes First as a Senior Executive. Eric worked in this role until May 2021.

Currently, Schaffer is the Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Joe Gibbs Racing, a position they have held since January 2023.

Throughout their career, Schaffer has utilized their legal skills and sports expertise to make impactful contributions to the organizations they have worked with.

Eric Schaffer attended the University of Michigan from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History. Eric then went on to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Law from 1997 to 2000, obtaining a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law. At some point, Eric returned to the University of Michigan, but it is not specified when or what degree they pursued.
