James Piercy has a diverse work experience, with roles in various organizations. James also held leadership positions in the science communication field, serving as the Chair of BIG from July 2012 to July 2016 and July 2009 to January 2011.

James Piercy received a Bachelor of Science (Bsc) degree in Chemistry from the University of East Anglia between 1991 and 1994. James then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (Msc) degree in Science from The Open University from 2003 to 2005.
