Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre

Lara Esch is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the John Innes Centre in Norwich, UK. Lara completed their BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, focusing on plant disease resistance and plant-pathogen interactions. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at RWTH Aachen University, first as a Scientific Assistant and then as a part-time Research Associate. Their research at the John Innes Centre is focused on studying the relationship between plastid architecture and biogenesis, as well as starch granule initiation and morphology in model and crop species, using advanced cell biological, bioimaging, molecular, and biochemical methods.

Lara Esch completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at RWTH Aachen University from 2009 to 2012. Lara then pursued their Master of Science degree, specializing in Biology, at the same university from 2012 to 2014. Lara further continued their education at RWTH Aachen University, where they obtained their Doktor rerum naturum degree in Biology from 2015 to 2018.
