Mikael Svensson

Mikael Svensson has over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry. Mikael is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, a position they have held since October 2020. Prior to this role, they were the Executive Vice President at John Keells Holdings PLC, starting in September 2019.

Before joining John Keells Holdings, Svensson worked as the Senior Vice President at Louis T Collection Pte. Limited from December 2017 to August 2019. Mikael was responsible for elevating independent hotels and small hotel groups to the next level of success through hotel management expertise and technology alliances.

Svensson held the position of General Manager at various hotels, including Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai from June 2015 to August 2017, Park Hyatt Canberra from January 2011 to June 2015, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin from July 2007 to January 2011, Roppongi Hills Club - managed by Hyatt Hotels Corporation from January 2006 to July 2007, Grand Hyatt Mumbai from September 2002 to December 2005, Hyatt Regency Osaka from March 2000 to August 2002, and Grand Hyatt Taipei from September 1994 to March 2000.

Throughout their career, Svensson has demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in food and beverage operations, hotel management, and strategic planning.

Mikael Svensson attended the International School of Bangkok from 1976 to 1984. From 1984 to 1986, they studied at the International School of Stockholm. Following that, they attended Sigtuna Humanistiska Läroverket (Boarding School) from 1986 to 1988. Lastly, from 1989 to 1991, they completed a Diploma in Hotel Management at the Hosta Hotel & Tourism School (now under Glion Hotel School) in the field of Hospitality Administration/Management.
