Ahmad Waqas Ahad, MD, FACS, serves as the Chair of the Nominating Committee and Vice Chief of Surgery at Howard County General Hospital while also holding the position of General Surgeon and EPIC surgeon champion. Additionally, Ahmad contributes to Saint Agnes Hospital as the Department of Surgery representative on the Gender Equity Committee. Ahmad's prior experience includes roles as a General and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon at Physician Health Care Network and Lock Haven Hospital, as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at The Commonwealth Medical College. Ahmad completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at UTHSC Houston and a surgical residency at Providence Hospital, where research was conducted on near-infrared spectroscopy. Ahmad holds a Certificate in Healthcare Management and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University and is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Educational credentials include an M.B.B.S from King Edward Medical College, among other qualifications.
