Sophia Economon

Sophia Economon is currently a Graduate Student Researcher at The Johns Hopkins University, collaborating with Dr. Dimitri Sverjenksy on geochemical modeling of reaction processes in Earth's crust and upper mantle since August 2021. Prior experience includes internships at the Carnegie Institution for Science, where Sophia updated research to Python format for faster data analysis under Dr. Robert Hazen in 2021 and studied frequency distributions of compounds in 2019. Additionally, a summer internship at George Mason University involved utilizing a telescope to collect light curve data on transiting exoplanet candidates from NASA's TESS mission. Sophia holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University, expected in 2026, and a degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Florida Institute of Technology, completed in May 2021.
