Their earliest work experience was as the Executive Director at The Free Network Foundation from May 2011 to August 2014. During this time, they built a wireless mesh and overlay network stack and transformed it into a city-wide community ISP.

Isaac Wilder attended Grinnell College from 2009 to 2011, where they studied Computer Science & Philosophy. Prior to that, they attended The Hotchkiss School from 2006 to 2008, although the field of study or degree obtained during this time is unknown. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications such as the CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation in March 2021 and the Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google in May 2021.
