Karin Tsai

Karin Tsai has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Karin is currently the VP of Engineering at Propel, Inc since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Duolingo, starting as a Software Engineer from September 2012 to January 2017. Karin then progressed to become a Staff Software Engineer until March 2020, followed by a role as the Director of Engineering from March 2020 to September 2021. From September 2021 to January 2023, they served as the Senior Director of Engineering at Duolingo. Before joining Duolingo, Karin worked as a Software Engineer at Ultra Electronics - ProLogic from June 2011 to September 2012. Additionally, they pursued a PHD at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2012 to September 2018.

Karin Tsai earned their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Princeton University, where they studied from 2007 to 2011. After completing their undergraduate education, they pursued further studies at Carnegie Mellon University. From 2012 to 2018, they earned their Master of Science in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
