Omri Bernstein

Omri Bernstein has extensive work experience in software engineering and technical leadership roles. Omri currently holds the position of Software Engineer at Propel, Inc since May 2023. Prior to that, in 2023, they were a Recurser at Recurse Center. From 2019 to 2023, Omri worked at Newsela, where they held various roles including Principal Software Engineer, Lead Web Developer, and Senior Software Engineer. At Newsela, they played a key role in fostering distributed ownership of platform development, providing organization-wide support, and prioritizing technical feedback.

Before their time at Newsela, Omri worked as a Senior Instructor at Fullstack Academy and The Grace Hopper Program from 2014 to 2019, where they taught and mentored aspiring software developers. Omri also worked as a Web Developer on a freelance basis in 2014. Prior to their career in technology, Omri worked as an EMT at Hampshire College from 2010 to 2014 and at SeniorCare Emergency Medical Services in 2012. Omri also gained experience as a Researcher at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory in 2012 and as a Spreadsheet Developer at Chyten Tutoring and Test Preparation from 2009 to 2010.

Omri Bernstein attended Swampscott High School from 2004 to 2008. Omri did not obtain a specific degree or study a particular field during this time. From 2008 to 2014, they enrolled in Hampshire College, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Technology.
