Buddy Gupton

Buddy Gupton is the current Mayor of the Town of Garner, having assumed office on December 5, 2023. Previously, Buddy has been a Partner at Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. since 1985. Additional experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Garner Police Athletic and Activity League from 2012 until December 2023 and the Garner Chamber of Commerce since 1986. Prior to these roles, Buddy worked as the Superintendent/Warden for the North Carolina Department of Corrections from 1975 to 1985. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Administration in Management from North Carolina State University (1977-1981), a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Asheville (1968-1972), and a diploma from Garner High School (1964-1968).
