Vincenzo Calvanese is a seasoned researcher in the field of molecular biology, currently serving as Group Lead at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute since October 2023 and as an Honorary Associate Professor at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at UCL. Starting in April 2021, Vincenzo's research focuses on human hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) self-renewal mechanisms, including gene expression regulation and environmental influences. Additionally, Vincenzo is a Project Scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles, where study emphasizes the gene regulation network supporting HSC self-renewal and multipotency. Past postdoctoral positions include research on HIV-1 latency at The J. David Gladstone Institutes and epigenetic regulation in embryonic stem cell differentiation at CSIC. Academic credentials encompass a PhD and advanced studies in molecular biology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, alongside a BSc in Biotechnology from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna.
