Maria Babbage has a diverse work experience spanning over 18 years. Maria is currently serving as the Director of Corporate Communications at Joseph Brant Hospital & Foundation. In this role, they provide strategic communications leadership and supports the hospital's growth and programs. Maria also offers expert counsel to the senior leadership team. Prior to this, Maria worked as a Senior Communications Advisor at the Ontario College of Pharmacists, where they provided communication leadership and services to advance the College's mission. Maria developed and implemented communication strategies, led communication for key projects, and promoted pharmacy practices. Maria also has experience working at the Ontario Public Service Employees Union as an Acting Communications Officer, where they provided communications advice and support. Additionally, they served as the Director of Communications in the Minister's Office at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, overseeing internal and external communications. Maria started their career at The Canadian Press as a Reporter-Editor, breaking national and provincial stories and covering major news events. Maria developed strong writing and editing skills and excelled in conveying complex information to different audiences.
Maria Babbage's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and English from Carleton University, which they obtained between 1995 and 1999. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University, completing it from 2002 to 2004.

Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a full-service community teaching hospital located in the growing and thriving community of Burlington, Ontario. The hospital serves residents from Burlington and surrounding cities of Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek. JBH is one of Hamilton Niagara’s Top Employers for seven consecutive years, with a skilled staff of 194 physicians, 852 nurses, 2,062 full- and part-time staff and more than 200 volunteers. JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus, including the state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, features an Emergency Department, 295 funded inpatient beds, and 9 Operating Rooms. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.
