Sara Pereira has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Sara started their career in 2003 as a Nurse Practitioner at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. After that, they worked at Alberta Health Services from 2007 to 2011, where they held the role of Director for the Regional Pain Program and later became the Executive Director for Surgery and Women's Health. In 2011, they moved to William Osler Health System as the Director of Surgical and Ambulatory Care. In 2014, they joined Alberta Health Services again, this time as the Director of Workplace Health & Safety for Calgary Zone. In 2016, they joined Joseph Brant Hospital & Foundation as the Director of Surgery and Oncology. Throughout their time at Joseph Brant Hospital & Foundation, they took on various roles, including Director of Surgery, Oncology, and Ambulatory Care, Interim Director of ICU, and Interim Director of Palliative & Complex Care. In 2023, they will be joining Accreditation Canada as a Surveyor. Sara Pereira has a wealth of experience in healthcare administration and leadership roles.
Sara Pereira's education history is as follows:
In 2018, they completed the IDEAS program at Health Quality Ontario, focusing on Quality Improvement.
Prior to that, they obtained a Leadership Development Certificate from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management in 2007.
Sara also holds a Master of Nursing degree and a Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Toronto, which they earned between 2002 and 2003. Their field of study during this time was Nursing.
Earlier on, they received a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary in 2000.
Their education began at the Foothills Hospital School of Nursing in 1995, where they completed a Nursing Diploma.

Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a full-service community teaching hospital located in the growing and thriving community of Burlington, Ontario. The hospital serves residents from Burlington and surrounding cities of Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek. JBH is one of Hamilton Niagara’s Top Employers for seven consecutive years, with a skilled staff of 194 physicians, 852 nurses, 2,062 full- and part-time staff and more than 200 volunteers. JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus, including the state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, features an Emergency Department, 295 funded inpatient beds, and 9 Operating Rooms. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.
