Jan-Willem Middelbeek

Jan-Willem Middelbeek has extensive work experience in the medical field. Jan-Willem started their career as a Resident Physician at UMass Memorial Medical Center in 2010 and then moved on to become an Endocrinology Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 2013 to 2016. During this time, they also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Joslin Diabetes Center from 2008 to 2010.

From 2014 to the present, Middelbeek has held multiple positions at Joslin Diabetes Center, including Associate Medical Director, Associate Program Director, and Staff Physician & Assistant Investigator. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Physician at Best Doctors from 2012 to 2021 and had a brief role as a Medical Doctor Coordinator in 2012.

Middelbeek's affiliation with Harvard Medical School began in 2013, where they served as a Clinical Fellow in Medicine until 2016. Jan-Willem then held the role of Instructor until 2022 and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor.

Additionally, during their career, Middelbeek briefly worked as a Staff Physician at Arkin in 2008.

Jan-Willem Middelbeek completed their education at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from 1999 to 2004. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Science, Technology, and Society from the University of Amsterdam between 2004 and 2007. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at VU Amsterdam from 2002 to 2008.
