James Gillard

Technical Co-Founder at Journee

James Gillard has a diverse work experience in different roles and companies.

In 2019, they co-founded Journee and holds the position of Technical Co-Founder.

From 2016 to 2018, they worked as a Platform Engineer at Depop, where they were involved in infrastructure rewrite and containerization migration using Terraform and AWS. James also worked on system architecture, scalability, performance, cost optimizations, DB migrations, cross-team collaboration, and debugging.

In 2015, they worked as a Platform Services Engineer at The Electric Jukebox Company. James'sresponsibilities included working on DevOps and internal tooling related to cloud computing, AWS, Linux, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, NodeJS-based Lambda functions, microservices, Agile/DevOps thinking, and CI/CD practices.

In 2013, they served as an IT Officer at Warwick Engineering Society, handling website design and administration, society communications, and developing a student ID card scanning system. James also co-organized various society events.

Additionally, in 2013, they worked as a Summer Intern at Warwick Manufacturing Group, where they updated a simulation tool for modeling aircraft availability, involving C++ programming, debugging, interfacing with databases and legacy hardware/software.

James Gillard completed their education at the University of Warwick from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a degree in MEng Electronic Engineering. Prior to that, they attended Winchester College from 2006 to 2011, though no specific degree or field of study information was provided for this period.
