Erik Porfeli, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning across various academic institutions and organizations. From 1998 to 2004, they served as a Research and Teaching Assistant at Penn State University. Erik then joined UNC Charlotte as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership from 2004 to 2007. Following this, they held multiple roles at Northeast Ohio Medical University, including Associate Professor, Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Admissions, and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. From 2013 to 2017, they also served as the Co-Director of the Ohio Alliance at The Sullivan Alliance to Transform the Health Professions. In 2016, they joined Journeyfront as the Lead Science Advisor and later became the Chief Science Officer, focusing on helping companies identify the attributes driving employee success and retention. Currently, since July 2017, Porfeli serves as the Professor and Chair of Human Sciences at The Ohio State University.
Erik Porfeli received their Bachelor's Degree in Human Development, Family Studies, and Related Services from The Ohio State University in 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University from 1998 to 2004. Before pursuing their Ph.D., they earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University from 1995 to 1998. Erik's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 1989 to 2001.
