Culture Program Director at The Joyce Foundation

Mia Khimm has a diverse and extensive work history in the art and cultural sector. Mia currently serves as the Culture Program Director at The Joyce Foundation since November 2020. Prior to that, Mia was the Managing Director at EXPO CHICAGO from April 2019 to November 2020, where they also held the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships from August 2017 to April 2019.

Before their time at EXPO CHICAGO, Mia worked as the Manager of Strategic Communications at the Smart Museum of Art, The University of Chicago from May 2016 to January 2017. Mia also gained experience at the Graham Foundation, where they served as the Communications Coordinator and Assistant to the Director from July 2013 to April 2016.

Mia's earlier career includes roles as a Graduate Teaching Instructor at the University of Chicago from September 2010 to December 2012, and as a Rhoades Curatorial Fellow at The Art Institute of Chicago from September 2011 to August 2012. Mia began their career in the art industry as a Gallery Assistant at Yossi Milo Gallery from January 2006 to July 2007, and as a Curatorial Intern at the Whitney Museum of American Art from June 2005 to December 2005.

Mia Khimm holds a Bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, where they double majored in Art History and Psychology. Mia also pursued further education at the University of Chicago, where they completed coursework towards a Master's degree and is currently a PhD candidate (ABD) in the field of Art History. In addition to their academic pursuits, Mia has obtained certifications in Google Ads Search and Google Analytics, as well as completing a certification in Strategic Thinking through LinkedIn.
