James Bassett has extensive work experience in the construction industry. James started their career in 1996 as a Quantity Surveyor with Mowlem plc, where they worked on various projects including high-end residential apartments, office developments, retail spaces, and luxury hotels. In 2006, they joined Carillion as a Project Quantity Surveyor, working on a commercial development in the City of London. In 2007, they moved to Bowen plc and worked as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on a luxury hotel project in Isleworth and a commercial office development near the Old Bailey. James joined JRL Group Ltd in 2011 and held several positions, including Project Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, where they managed residential and mixed-use projects. Since 2015, they have been serving as the Commercial Director of Midgard Ltd, overseeing all commercial aspects of the company's contracting and architectural businesses.
James Bassett attended Ryeish Green School in Spencers Wood, Reading from 1987 to 1992. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Reading College of Technology where they obtained a BTEC National Diploma in Construction from 1992 to 1996. Following this, James pursued further education at the same institution and completed a CIOB Professional Studies program from 1996 to 1998, which was undertaken on a part-time basis. Most recently, in 2021, they attended Pearson Edexcel and earned an NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Senior Construction Management. Note that no field of study is provided for the CIOB Professional Studies program or the BTEC National Diploma in Construction.
