Riaan Smit

Riaan Smit is an experienced finance professional with a strong background in mergers, investments, and corporate finance, currently serving as Group Manager of Mergers and Investments at Exxaro Resources since 2005. Riaan has held various key positions within Exxaro, including Group Manager of Corporate Finance and Modelling, Manager of Commercial Business Growth, and Manager of Finance for Base Metals. Prior to this, Riaan gained experience at Exxaro in roles such as Analyst in Corporate Finance and Manager of Finance for Iscor International, as well as Project Accountant at Iscor Mining. Earlier career experience includes roles as a Business Auditor at Persetel Limited and as a Trainee Accountant at PwC. Riaan holds a B.Com Hons degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg, obtained between 1989 and 1992.
