João Correia

João Correia has a diverse work experience in various industries. João is currently working at Jungle as a Machine Learning Engineer Lead, where they have been since August 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Jungle from October 2021 to July 2022.

In 2022, João joined Lisbon Data Science Academy as a Data Science Instructor. Their responsibilities include being part of the teaching team, offering an introductory course in Data Science to equip students with the necessary skills to become data scientists.

Before joining LDSA, João worked at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisboa). João started as a Junior Scientific Researcher from December 2020 to March 2021, where they worked on projects related to computer vision and the control of robot motion. João then worked as a Scientific Researcher from January 2022 to September 2022, focusing on 3D object detection for autonomous driving and implementing deep learning methodologies using Python, Pytorch, and OpenCV. João also conducted their Msc Thesis at ISR, working on the task offloading decision using machine learning and deep learning techniques from January 2021 to November 2021.

João also participated in the Cisco Incubator Program 9.0 from October 2021 to March 2022. This program provided him with seminars and practical projects focused on networking, cloud, cybersecurity, and software engineering.

In 2020, João was a Vision Team Member at AeroTéc - Aerospace Engineering Students Association of Instituto Superior Técnico. João contributed to the design and implementation of an autonomous fixed-wing aircraft, primarily focusing on computer vision methods, such as object detection and vision-based autonomous landing systems.

During their internship at Link Consulting, João worked as a Junior Consultant. João implemented an Internet-of-Things use case involving near real-time communication and new interaction methods. João developed a cloud-based voice interface that allowed users to pilot and control a drone using voice commands. João also utilized Google's machine learning and computer vision APIs to capture interesting events using the drone's camera.

Overall, João Correia has demonstrated expertise in machine learning, computer vision, and data science through their various roles and projects in different organizations.

João Correia completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, from the year 2016 to 2021. João also obtained additional certifications including a "Drone Control and Simulation - MOOC Course" from Instituto Superior Técnico in April 2021 and a "Cisco Certified Network Associate" certification from Cisco in January 2022.
