Alastair Hick

Alastair Hick has over 30 years of experience in the commercialisation and innovation sector. Alastair began their career in 1988 as a Research Scientist at Rothamsted Research. In 1999, they took on the role of Technology Manager at Plant Bioscience Limited. In 2002, they became the Head of Life Sciences at Cambridge Enterprise. In 2008, they joined the Investment Committee Member at Trans Tasman Commercialisation Fund. In 2009, they were appointed as the Vice Chair and later the Chair of KCA - Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia Ltd. In 2013, they became a Director of Amaero International Limited (ASX:3DA). From 2007 to 2021, they held various roles at Monash University, including Chief Commercialisation Officer, Senior Director of Monash Innovation, Director of Monash Innovation and Director Commercialisation. In 2021, they joined Jupiter Ionics as a Director and PIOtx as a Director.

Alastair Hick began their educational journey at the University of Southampton, where they earned a BSc in Chemistry with Biochemistry from 1985 to 1988. Alastair then went on to pursue a PhD at The Open University from 1992 to 1996, specializing in Studies on Plant Secondary Metabolites. In 1998, they completed an MBA at the Cambridge Judge Business School, with a focus on Business Administration and Management, General. Finally, in 2012, they obtained a GAICD from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
