Cameron Gardner

VP of Research at JURA Bio

Cameron Gardner is the current VP of Research at JURA Bio. Prior to this, they were the Head of Division at Science Innovation Union from August 2017 to April 2020. They led a team of international post-graduate Oxford students to create events in the public science communication and STEM skill-set development space. During their tenure, they expanded membership to over 7000 people globally, raised over $15000, expanded SIU divisions across Europe and the US, and released dozens of news articles, event reviews, podcasts and YouTube videos.

Before that, they were a PHD student at National Institutes of Health from August 2016 to November 2020. There they utilized CRISPR/AAV mediated gene editing technology to perform whole gene replacement in severe combined immunodeficiency patient derived induced pluripotent and hematopoietic stem cells. They analyzed approach as a potential autologous cell therapy using an in vitro artificial thymic organoid system to generate mature naïve T cells from iPSCs/HSPCs. Analyzed using a combination of multi-parameter flow cytometry and functional/genomic studies.

Cameron Gardner received a Bachelor of Engineering in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University. Cameron then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Finance, General from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. After working in the finance industry for a few years, they decided to return to school to pursue a career in gene/genetic therapy and received a Doctor of Philosophy in Gene/Genetic Therapy from the University of Oxford. Cameron is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in genome sciences/genomics at Harvard Medical School.

Cameron Gardner reports to Elizabeth Wood, Founder & CEO. Some direct reports include Xiaobing Cui - Senior Research Scientist, Zachary Zhu - Computational Research Assistant, and Eli Weinstein - Postdoctoral Researcher. Some of their coworkers include Julie Norville - Founder, CTO & CSO, Matthew Cain - Director of Operations, and André Nguyen - Director of Machine Learning.
