Tim Irvin has a long and varied work experience. Tim began their career in 1995 as a volunteer and leader at MZA Events Inc. In this role, they were responsible for managing multiple client contracts, vendor relationships, and the day-to-day finances and operations of the firm itself, specializing in Network and Systems Consulting. In 2000, they became a Consultant, Corporate IT and Interim IT Manager at DHAP Digital, where they were responsible for IT operations, staff recruitment, and personnel management. In 2002, they became a volunteer and Senior Manager at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, where they were responsible for seven road-based teams of volunteers. In 2006, they became a Consultant, IT Operations at BiTMICRO, and a Consultant, Technical Operations at Justia. In 2008, they became a Consultant, Technical Operations at Kontiki, and Treasurer, Board of Directors at The Crucible. Finally, in 2009, they became a Consultant, Technical Operations at InWorld Solutions. In 2011, they became a Consultant, Technical Operations and Interim Director, Technical Operations at LOYAL3, where they were responsible for architecture, planning, and deployment of the LOYAL3 production environment.

Tim Irvin attended The Asheville School from 1980 to 1983. Tim then went on to North Carolina State University from 1983 to 1985, where they studied Electrical Engineering. After that, they attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 1986 to 1990, where they earned a BS in Computer Science and Business Administration. In 2021, they obtained a Machine Learning certification from Stanford Online.
