Des Buford

Des Buford has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Most recently, Des served as the Network Director at Justice Funders starting in August 2021. Prior to this, Des held various positions at Horizons Foundation, including Director of Institutional Partnerships & Events from January 2021 to May 2021, and Corporate Relations & Events Manager from February 2019 to December 2020. Des also worked as a Programming Manager (Consultant) at SFFILM from October 2017 to May 2018. Before that, Des had a long tenure at Frameline, where they held positions such as Director of Exhibition & Programming, Administration & Operations Director, and Exhibition Manager from 2005 to 2017. Des started their career as an Events Assistant at the National Center for Lesbian Rights - NCLR in 2004. They also held seasonal positions as a Print Traffic Manager at the Center for Asian American Media, Frameline, and California Film Institute, and as an Associate Programmer / Print Trafficker at Outfest in the early 2000s.

Des Buford attended the University of California, Los Angeles from 1997 to 2002. During this time, they obtained a Minor in LGBTQ Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre/Theater. Des also holds a certification in Community Emergency Response Team from the State of California, although the specific month and year of obtaining the certification are not provided.
