Senior Data Analyst at Kairos Aerospace

Catherine Gosmeyer has extensive work experience in various scientific and research roles. Catherine is currently working as a Senior Data Analyst at Kairos Aerospace since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from 2017 to 2022, where they held the positions of Senior Research Scientist and Scientific Software Developer. Their responsibilities included developing data visualization programs, dashboarding geolocation metrics, and working on radiometric calibrations for the ICESat-2 mission.

Before their time at NASA, Catherine worked at the Space Telescope Science Institute from 2013 to 2017. In this role, they contributed as a Research & Instrument Analyst for the James Webb Space Telescope and the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Camera 3. Their work involved developing verification tests, monitoring charge transfer efficiency, and analyzing observations of star clusters.

Catherine also gained research experience at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Research Assistant in 2013, where they collaborated on an improved time-step algorithm for dense plasma modeling. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Indiana University Department of Astronomy from 2010 to 2013, analyzing spectra of red giant stars, and at Cornell University Department of Astronomy in 2012, participating in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program.

Additionally, Catherine worked as a Research Assistant at Lowell Observatory in 2011, where they set up initial conditions for simulations of colliding Oort clouds of comets and analyzed the results.

Catherine Gosmeyer received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Astrophysics from Indiana University Bloomington in 2013. During their time there, they also earned a Certificate in Journalism, a Minor in Computer Science, and a Minor in Mathematics.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Catherine attended The Johns Hopkins University from 2014 to 2017, where they pursued studies in Planetary Science.

From 2018 to 2020, they furthered their education at the University of Maryland, focusing on Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences. However, no degree information was provided for this period.
