EVP, CFO at Kaleida Health

Matthew Drake, MBA, CMA, FHFMA, was named executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for Kaleida Health in April 2022.

Drake served as the interim CFO since November 2021. He was recruited to Kaleida Health early in 2021 to serve as vice president and CFO for site financial operations. In this role, he led overall financial leadership for the various operating entities and divisions within Kaleida Health, working to ensure overall financial performance and operational targets. He also was responsible for developing and implementing the operational plan that drives the annual budget process.

He has also helped with financial education and leadership to Kaleida Health's hospital managers and directors, contributed financial expertise in strategic planning of current and new services and has been an integral member of the organization's growth committee.

In the CFO role, Drake will also lead strategy and growth initiatives for the organization.

Drake came to Kaleida Health from Rochester Regional Health, where he served as vice president of business development and network growth. As the business development leader of the $2.9 billion health system, Drake led efforts to expand the network of providers, hospitals, ambulatory destination campuses and urgent care centers.

He also led the planning and implementation of five ambulatory destination campuses; business planning process for a 3-hospital health system acquisition; and acquisition of 80 practices, representing 140 physicians and 86 advanced practice providers.

Previous roles at Rochester Regional Health included: vice president of accountable care, Greater Rochester IPA (GRIPA); director of finance, population health and business planning; director of financial planning and decision support; manager of financial systems, planning and decision support; and project and cost manager. Prior to joining Rochester Regional Health, Drake was a revenue management analyst at Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Rochester.

Drake has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Alfred University. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA), and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
