Markus Syrjänen

Markus Syrjänen started their career in 2000 as a Web programmer at Mediasignal Communications Oy. Markus worked on web application development using the LAMP platform and managed software and website projects. In 2004, they joined Nortal as a Consultant, where they provided Unified Communications consultation and worked as a Technical Lead in their Microsoft Office Communications Server partnership program. Markus also acted as a Senior Systems Analyst and Technical Project Manager in international multisite projects, building high-availability telco systems. In 2009, they joined Codemate Ltd as a Project Coordinator, where they worked as a technical consultant on a customer project involving massive scalability using NoSQL in a private cloud. Since 2010, Markus has been working at Kaleva Media, initially as a Solutions Architect and currently as the Chief Architect. Markus has been instrumental in building Lorien, their multi-channel, multi-tenant content publishing platform, specifying requirements, architecting the solution, and continuously adding new value to their newsrooms, B2B sales, and customers. In 2021, they also founded their own company, Technomage.

Markus Syrjänen completed their high school education at Tampereen Rudolf Steiner from 1994 to 1998. Markus then pursued Information Engineering at the University of Oulu from 1999 to 2008. In 2009, they obtained a certification in "TS: Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, Configuring" from Microsoft.
