Phil Spinella

Phil Spinella has an extensive work experience in the field of medicine and research. Phil is currently the Co-Director of the Trauma and Transfusion Medicine Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh, a position they have held since September 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Professor in the Department of Surgery and Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh from August 2021 to March 2022.

Before joining the University of Pittsburgh, Phil Spinella co-founded KaloCyte, Inc. in July 2018. Phil has also served on the Scientific Advisory Boards of Hemanext and Haima Therapeutics since January 2016 and January 2019 respectively.

Additionally, Phil Spinella has been involved with various other organizations in leadership positions. Phil was the Co-Director of the THOR Network since January 2011 and served as the CEO of Blood Solutions LLC from December 2010. Phil also held the role of Director of Critical Care Translational Research Program at Washington University in St. Louis from March 2011 to April 2022.

Currently, they are the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board and Chief Medical and Scientific Director at Secure Transfusion Solutions since September 2022 and January 2019 respectively, but their position as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board will end in January 2023.

Phil Spinella attended Tufts University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Later, they went on to attend New York Medical College, where they completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. No specific start or end years for these educational institutions were provided.
