Luana Lopes Lara has held a variety of positions in the technology and finance industries since 2014. Luana began their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the MIT Media Lab in 2014. In 2015, they worked as a Business Development employee at Anheuser-Busch InBev. In 2016, they were a Teaching Assistant at the MIT School of Engineering, a Researcher at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), and a participant in the Summer Startup Accelerator Program at ZX Ventures. In 2017, they were a Software Engineer at Bridgewater Associates. In 2018, they were a Quantitative Trader at Five Rings Capital, LLC, a Quantitative Trader at Citadel Securities, and a Researcher in the Computational Cognitive Science Group at the MIT Brain and Cognitive Science Center. Most recently, in 2019, they founded Kalshi.
Luana Lopes Lara began their educational journey in 2011 when they attended Escola do Teatro Bolshoi no Brasil, where they studied Classical Ballet. In 2014, they began their undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics in 2018. Luana then continued their studies at the same institution, earning a Master of Engineering - MEng in Computer Science in 2019. In the same year, they also attended Y Combinator, where they were part of the W19 Batch.
