Ton Van Der Steen

Ton Van Der Steen has a diverse work experience that spans over several prestigious organizations. Ton is currently a Founding Board Member at the Netherlands Academy of Engineering, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Ton served as the Chairman of the Domain Natural Sciences and Engineering and a Board Member at KNAW - Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen starting from September 2020. Ton also became a Member of KNAW in August 2014. In 2020, Ton co-founded Kaminari Medical. Before that, they held the position of Head of Biomedical Engineering at ErasmusMC since 1994. Ton is also a Professor in Physics at TU Delft since January 2013 and an Honorary Visiting Professor at the SHENZHEN INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES since January 2014. Ton has been a Medical Delta Professor and served as the Chairman of Medical Delta starting from June 2014, and a Quarter Master Medical Delta 2.0 from August 2017 to September 2018. Ton is a Member of the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation AcTI since 2008. Ton was the Chairman of the Board at Technology Foundation STW from August 2014 to January 2017. Lastly, Ton held the position of ICIN Professor at ICIN - Interuniversity Cardiology Institute of the Netherlands from May 2002 to May 2012.

Ton Van Der Steen earned their Bachelor's degree in an unspecified field of study from Maurick College between 1977 and 1983. Ton then pursued a Master's degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology from 1983 to 1989. Subsequently, they attended Radboud University from 1989 to 1993 where they obtained their Ph.D. in Medical Sciences.
