As a not-for-profit public utility, the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has provided safe, dependable water and electric service in the Kansas City, Kansas area since 1909. Today, BPU services nearly 65,000 electric customers and 53,000 water customers.  We are proud to offer consistently dependable service to every household and business in our community at some of the lowest rates in the nation.
