Kim Gile has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles in library services and leadership. Kim is currently the Director of Branch Services & Engagement at the Kansas City Public Library, where they lead the Community Reference and Community Resources teams and supports programming across branches. Prior to this, they served as the Community Specialists Leader at the same library, where they acted as a bridge between teams and departments and provided high-quality service based on community needs.

Kim Gile obtained a Masters degree in Information Science and Library Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007. Kim also holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Johnson County Community College, which they received in 2003. Kim completed their high school education at Shawnee Mission North High School from 2000 to 2003. Additionally, they hold several certifications including the FDO Expert Certification 2020 and the Foundation Directory Online Trainer Certification, both obtained from Candid. Kim also obtained a Notary Public Commission from the Missouri Secretary Of State in August 2020.
