Kim Gile

Kim Gile has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles in library services and leadership. Kim is currently the Director of Branch Services & Engagement at the Kansas City Public Library, where they lead the Community Reference and Community Resources teams and supports programming across branches. Prior to this, they served as the Community Specialists Leader at the same library, where they acted as a bridge between teams and departments and provided high-quality service based on community needs.

Kim also participated in the Centurions Leadership Program as a Centurion from the Fall Class of 2020. Additionally, they have held various leadership positions within the Kansas Library Association, including Vice President, 2nd Vice President, KLA Secretary, and Membership Chair. In these roles, they contributed to the planning of conferences, reviewed bylaws, and acted as a leader in the executive committee.

Earlier in their career, Kim worked at the Johnson County Library, starting as a Page and progressing to roles such as Clerk, Youth Services Information Specialist, Assistant Manager, Circulation Manager, and Information Services Manager. In their last role, they coordinated the development and training of staff and secured grants and financing for quality programming and initiatives while actively participating in strategic objectives.

Kim Gile obtained a Masters degree in Information Science and Library Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelors degree in International Business Management and Human Resources at The University of Kansas in 2006. Kim also holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Johnson County Community College, which they received in 2003. Kim completed their high school education at Shawnee Mission North High School from 2000 to 2003. Additionally, they hold several certifications including the FDO Expert Certification 2020 and the Foundation Directory Online Trainer Certification, both obtained from Candid. Kim also obtained a Notary Public Commission from the Missouri Secretary Of State in August 2020.
