Vanessa Spartan

Vanessa Spartan, AICP, MPA, RSP1, is an experienced transportation and urban planning professional currently serving as the Transportation Safety Bureau Chief at the Kansas Department of Transportation since April 2021. Previously, Vanessa worked as a Transportation Planner for the City of Tempe and held roles at Matrix Design Group, Inc. and Wilson & Company, where responsibilities included senior planning and project management. Vanessa has also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, teaching courses related to urban design and professional practice. With a strong educational background that includes a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning and Design, Vanessa has built a diverse career encompassing urban design, proposal specialization, and land planning internships.
