Penwell holds BJuris, LLB, MBA, MSc (HR) qualifications. He joined the Steinhoff group in September 2005 in the position of group industrial relations manager, where he was responsible for the management of labour relations and labour law matters. Penwell joined the KAP Industrial Holdings Limited group in April 2012. In June 2016, he was appointed as the group stakeholder relations executive and appointed to the executive committee, focusing primarily on industrial relations matters and community interactions in the regions where the group operates. He has extensive experience in industrial relations and has represented the group in various industry-based industrial relations structures.
