Mathew de Smidt

Mathew de Smidt currently serves as the General Manager for AutoStore at Kardex since May 2024. Prior to this role, Mathew dedicated nearly two decades to GMS Systems, starting in 2004 as an Office Manager, advancing to Operations Manager in 2006, and culminating in the position of General Manager in 2011. Responsibilities encompassed strategic development, client and supplier relations, project feasibility assessments, design preparations, proposal presentations, and contract negotiations. Earlier experience includes serving as Bookshop Manager at Scripture Union from January 2001 to June 2004. Mathew holds a BSocSc (Hons) in Comparative & International Politics from the University of Cape Town and a Certificate in Coaching Practice from Stellenbosch University, alongside a BSocSc in Economics & Political Studies from the University of Cape Town. Educational background also includes attendance at various schools in the UK, Lesotho, and Seychelles.
